UTI Treatment for Women in Manchester

What Are Urinary Tract Infections (UTIs)?

A urinary tract infection (UTI) occurs when bacteria enter the urinary tract, causing inflammation and discomfort. UTIs are common in women and can affect the bladder, urethra or kidneys. Early treatment helps relieve symptoms quickly and prevents the infection from developing into something more serious.

At Whitemoss Pharmacy in Blackley, Manchester, we offer treatment for uncomplicated UTIs in women through the NHS Pharmacy First service. This allows eligible women to access care and medication without needing a GP appointment.

Symptoms:

  • Pain or burning when urinating
  • Frequent or urgent need to urinate
  • Lower abdominal discomfort
  • Cloudy or strong-smelling urine
  • Feeling generally unwell

A UTI is an infection that can occur in any part of the urinary system, including the bladder, kidneys, ureters, and urethra. In women, UTIs are more common due to the shorter length of the urethra, making it easier for bacteria to enter the urinary tract.
